Super Bertizzolo in Cittiglio

Sofia Bertizzolo second at Trofeo Binda, a great podium in Cittiglio

UAE Team ADQ took an important second place today with Italian rider Sofia Bertizzolo at the 47th Trofeo Binda - Comune di Cittiglio, a race of the UCI Women's World Tour calendar (Cocquio Trevisago - Cittiglio, km 141.8).

The world champion Elisa Balsamo (Trek-Segafredo) won the sprint. After the success of Montignoso, this second place of great value for Bertizzolo testifies the excellent moment of the Italian rider.

A placement that also repays the work done by the entire Emirates team, which has always been in the heart of the race: it has sent on the attack Erica Magnaldi (she was awarded with the prize for the most combative rider of the race) and then, in the final, with Bertizzolo and the Spanish Mavi Garcia in the group of the best, tried to win the race.

Sofia Bertizzolo said after the finish line: "I’m definitely happy with this second place. It isn’t my first WorldTour podium, but this is a second place that is worth a lot for me, behind the world champion Elisa Balsamo. I knew it was almost impossible to beat her, but I hoped until the end. It was an anomalous race, especially for the neutralization of the race, but I have to congratulate the organizers who have managed very well this unforeseen, but for someone waiting for half an hour before restarting may have made they feel more tired. Surely the race was conditioned by the tactics of Trek-Segafredo that had five riders in front and favored the return of Elisa Balsamo and at the finish line arrived a group larger than usual”.
Before the start of the race this morning, the UAE Team ADQ girls also received a visit from UAE Team Emirates and world cycling champion Tadej Pogacar.
