First seasonal success for Matteo Trentin, the first Italian to win the Belgian race. The 32-year-old Italian took the lead together with 7 other riders in the last 20 cobbled kilometers of the final circuit, in a day that brought the athletes from Quaregnon to Dour (209 km). Trentin tried to take advantage of his good form to make some attacks in the final kilometers, but he always saw his opponents closing in. The UAE Team Emirates rider then focused on the sprint of the small leading group, going ahead of Frenchman Hugo Hofstetter (Arkea-Samsic).
